Wrong time for wheat fields. Alternative Photo Locations Tri Cities
After much searching and asking we found we need to take pictures in the Spring if we want wheat field images. However, It is amazing how you can find an excellent spot you wouldn't even know that so much is going in the background. We found something off the beaten path, literally, in Richland off of Keene Rd and Shockley Rd, near Bethel Church. If you go straight through the light, on Shockley the road ends. You walk about 200 feet into what would appear to be weeds. (This photo was screenshot on cell phone) The final shot was taken with a Fuji, Fujinon GF45-100 mm F4 lens.

Finding locations for clients part 2
Took two of the kids and went for a drive looking for wheat fields. Found the same as result as before. The existing wheat fields have all been harvested. Went to the end of Leslie and Columbia Point Trail. (1st image) Found taller grass with trees in the background. This will probably be the location we choose for the client.
Finding family photo locations for clients
Recently a client asked if we could photograph their family in a wheat field. We have about a month before the scheduled date. We drove around Horse Heaven Hills, Kennewick, today looking for a tall wheat field. However, the wheat fields we encountered had already been harvested. We found tall grass that may work but the background isn't the best choice for a photo. (Picture below, taken with cell phone)
Our next option is to drive to different locations in the Tri-Cities. We are looking for a field that we can photograph with a long field that can we can blur the background. We also need the sun on the faces of the clients, so we have to base location off the direction of the sun. If we fail at finding a wheat field which hasn’t been harvested, our next option will be to suggest tall grass.
